Cambodian New Year Ceremony at Hanam Road 8 in Gwangju city

Cambodian New Year's Days are coming on April 14-16, 2010. There are many Cambodian people joined the Cambodian New Year ceremony on April 11, at All Nations' Culture Center, Hanam Road 8, Gwangju city. In the ceremony, there are 5 Cambodian students from CNU-CSA, 4 students from CNU such as Mr. YOEUN Sereyvath, Mr. HEM Lina, Mr. PHAN Veasna and Mr. CHUM Puthy Roath, and a student from GIST, Mr. PHAN Kongkea.

2010 Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) for International Students for Graduate Courses

Chonnam National University is accepting applications for Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) for Graduate Programs. This program is designed to provide higher education in Korea for international students in order to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between the participating countries. If you are interested, download the information file and send in the application by April 30, 2010.

1. Application Deadline: e-mail application file and then send the original documents by mail
- e-mail: MS Word or PDF documents(including all attachments) to
gradia@jnu.ac.kr by April 30, 2010(Friday)
AND
- mail: original documents to CNU by May 4, 2010(Tuesday) original documents to CNU by May 4, 2010(Tuesday)

2. Qualifications:
- Applicant and parents must be citizens of the country to which scholarships are offered.
- Under 40 years as of September 1, 2010.
- Hold either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of September 1, 2010.
- GPA 80% (out of 100%) or within top 10% among graduates
- Should have GPA of at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4. 3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale or
grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previous attended institution

3. Scholarship Period:
- Start of Scholarship Program: September 1, 2010
- Master’s(3 yrs): 2010. 9. 1 ~ 2013. 8.31(1 yr of Korean language + 2 yrs. of Master’s)
- Doctoral(4 yrs): 2010. 9. 1 ~ 2014. 8.31(1 yr of Korean language + 3 yrs of Doctoral)
- Integrated Master’s & Doctoral(5 yrs): 2010. 9. 1 ~ 2015. 8.31(1 yr of Korean language

9 Cambodian people visit South Korea

There are nine Cambodian people visit South Korea on February 10-15, 2010. They are working for Chang Min Industrial Construction Co., LTD. in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. On February 11, they visited three farms (Tomatos farm, Stoberry farm and Paprika farm) in Hwasun county. Mr. HUON Thavrak also accompanied them to visit those farms too.

First honorary member of CNU-CSA

Mr. PHAN Kongkea became a first honorary member of CNU-CSA on January 29, 2010. He was accepted by Mr. HUON Thavrak, a president of CNU-CSA. Mr. Kongkea is a graduate student (Master's degree) in Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST).

The procedures:
57 universities can make recommendation up to 10 candidates to the NIIED, and NIIED will select only 150 scholars for 2010 undergraduate course from the worldwide.
If the candidate recommended by CNU and finally accepted, then they will study language and degree course in this university, or if they are recommended by the other university then they will study at that university.

The selection will be in order of higher score in all factors such as high school GPA score, language ability, recommendation letters, self introduction and study plan as well.
Beside the applicants must complete all the required document, and if some of documents are delay then they must fax us or email with scan file before the deadline.

Schedules:

- The selection of 10 candidates by University: Jan 25~26, 2010
- Mailing all the documents to NIIED: Jan 27, 2010
- Final selection by NIIED: Feb 25, 2010

The scholarship for three Cambodian students at CNU

There are three Cambodian students at Chonnam National University (CNU) received the additonal scholarship at Aroma Church on December 6, 2009. Those students are Mr. HUON Thavrak, Mr. YOEUN Sereyvath and Mr. HEM Lina. This scholarships sponsored by professor Kyung-Ja Hong, chairperson of "Open Sesame" Foundation. In the ceremomy, pastor Kang-Joo Lee, represents professor Kyung-Ja Hong, gave the scholarship to Cambodian students above, and he also gave another scholarship to Chinese students too. Professor Joon-keun Park, Mr. Sun-Woo Choi, Mr. Suk-Bong Kim, Dr. Chae-Ok Kim, and Mr. Shim also attended in the ceremony too. The Cambodian students at CNU would like to thank you very much to professor Kyung-Ja Hong, professor Joon-keun Park, and Aroma church's members for their support.
