The scholarship for three Cambodian students at CNU

There are three Cambodian students at Chonnam National University (CNU) received the additonal scholarship at Aroma Church on December 6, 2009. Those students are Mr. HUON Thavrak, Mr. YOEUN Sereyvath and Mr. HEM Lina. This scholarships sponsored by professor Kyung-Ja Hong, chairperson of "Open Sesame" Foundation. In the ceremomy, pastor Kang-Joo Lee, represents professor Kyung-Ja Hong, gave the scholarship to Cambodian students above, and he also gave another scholarship to Chinese students too. Professor Joon-keun Park, Mr. Sun-Woo Choi, Mr. Suk-Bong Kim, Dr. Chae-Ok Kim, and Mr. Shim also attended in the ceremony too. The Cambodian students at CNU would like to thank you very much to professor Kyung-Ja Hong, professor Joon-keun Park, and Aroma church's members for their support.

Culture Nigth at GIST

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) celebrated the Culture Night on November 13, 2009. In the ceremony, there are many foreign students at GIST showed their culture including a Cambodian student at GIST, Mr. PHAN Kongkea, tried also to show the Khmer culture too. Mr. YOEUN Sereyvath, vice president of CNU-CSA, also brought 2 sets of Cambodian traditional dresses to join with Mr. PHAN Kongkea in the Culture Night at GIST too.

CNU University Festival in 2009

Chonnam National University is celebrating the university festival at Gwangju Yongbongdong campus on September 23-25, 2009. There were many people came to see the concert in front of main library and drank on the playground last night, September 23. All Cambodian students at CNU and other Cambodian people who are working or living in Gwangju city came also to cheer Mr. Donang up for his dance performance at the concert last night too.

Pchum Ben Festival in South Korea

There were many Cambodian people joined Pchum Ben Festival Ceremony hold at Cambodian Buddhist Center in Keunpo city (near Seoul), South Korea on September 19-20, 2009. Mr. HUON Thavrak, president of CNU-CSA, had also attended in that ceremony.

A welcome party on August 10th, 2009

Last night on August 10th, CNU-CSA made a welcome party for Mr. Leng Rothna's visiting Gwangju City at IJ Chicken. Mr. Rothna is a Cambodian student who study at Baekseok University (former Cheonan University).

Mr. Hem Lina visited Hawaii, USA

Mr. Lina and Cambodian students at University of Hawaii

Mr. Hem Lina, his labmates, and his professor Dr. Jae-han Shim, visited Hawaii, USA on July 22-29 for their research trip. They went to University of Hawaii and visited two laboratories related to pesticides in enviramental fat and related to IPM. They also enjoyed with the tour trip in Hawaii.

Mr. Lina also met some Cambodian students who are studying in University of Hawaii, Aloha state and had a nice dinner with them too.

Cambodian New Year Party at CNU

Cambodian New Year's Days are coming on April 14-16, 2009. The Cambodian students from Chonnam National University (CNU) and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) celebrated Cambodian New Year on April 12, 2009 at CNU. There are many people also joined the party including 4 Cambodian workers, a Korean, an American, a Kirghiz, an Uzbek and a Kazakh. All people enjoyed with Cambodian food such as Sngor Morn Ngam Ngov, Morn Dot, and Banh Chheav.

On the other hand, Mr. Huon Thavrak from CNU, Mr. San Vibol and Mr. Kongkea from GIST also joined Cambodian New Year ceremony on April 12 at the All Nations' Culture Center, Hanam Road 8, Gwangju city. There are many Cambodian people in the ceremony, most of them are Cambodian workers in Gwangju city.

A party for Cambodian students from CNU and GIST

On March 20th, there was a dinner party for Cambodian students from Chonnam National University (CNU) and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST). This party sponsored by Mr. Yong-Kwang Lee, president of BIOPROTEC CO., LTD. at GIST, Mr. Byung Gun Cho, CEO of ILSAN Tech at GIST, and Mr. Hee Gon Kim, Director of Business Incubator Center at GIST. There were ten Cambodian students joined the party, eight students from CNU (Mr. Huon Thavrak, Mr. Yoeun Sereyvath, Mr. Ty Sansouci, Mr. Kong Chakrya, Mr. Nop Sophea Donang, Ms. Nguon Vatha Bopharath, Mr. Phan Veasna, and Mr. Chum Puthy Roath) and two students from GIST (Mr. Kongkea and Mr. San Vibol).

The 3rd election for the president and vice president of CNU-CSA

The 3rd election for the president and vice-president of CNU-CSA hold on February 26, 2009 at a buffet restaurant. Mr. Huon Thavrak has been elected as the president of CNU-CSA and Mr. Yoeun Sereyvath has been elected as the vice president of CNU-CSA by Cambodian students at Chonnam National University.

On the other hand, Mr. Ty Sansouci has also selected as the general of CNU-CSA by the president at that day too.

Congratulation and Farewell Party for 3 Cambodian Students

Today, February 26, there are three Cambodian students graduated from Chonnam National University (CNU), Dr. Khay Sathya, Ms. Taing Sreiny, and Mr. Hem Lina. So, Cambodian students at CNU celebrated a party for them at a buffet restaurant. Dr. Khay Sathya and Ms. Taing Sreiny are going to leave South Korea for Cambodia on February 27, 2009.

On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Joon-keun Park and Aroma Church members celebrated a congratulation party for three Cambodian students as above on February 22, 2009.

On February 24, Graduate School of College of Business and Administration at Chonnam National University (CNU) celebrated the graduation ceremony. Mr. Sar Kinal was graduated and received the MBA's certificate in that ceremony. He left South Korea to Cambodia on February 26, 2009.

On the other hand, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at CNU celebrated the graduation ceremony on February 26. There are three Cambodian students graduated and received the certificates in that ceremony such as:

1. Dr. Khay Sathya got Doctoral degree in Agricultural Chemistry.
2. Miss Taing Sreiny got Master degree in Agricultural Chemistry.
3. Mr. Hem Lina got Master degree in Agricultural Chemistry.

The Farewell Party for Ms. Chhay Sreyleak

Ms. Chhay Sreyleak is going to leave South Korea on January 18, 2009. She completed all Graduate School's requirements and is going to graduate on February 2009 in Master degree from Department of Agricultural Economics, Chonnam National University (CNU). On January 17, Prof. Dr. Joon-keun Park, Aroma Church's pastor and members, Mr. Suck-bong Kim, and Dr. Chae-Ok Kim celebrated a farewell party for Ms. Chhay Sreyleak at Sarangbang Restaurant (사랑방). There are some Cambodian students at CNU also joined the party too such as Mr. Khay Sathya, Mr. Huon Thavrak, Mr. Yoeun Sereyvath, Ms. Taing Sreiny, Mr. Phan Veasna and Mr. Chum Puthy Roath.

On the other hand, the Cambodian students at Chonnam National University celebrated also a farewell party for Ms. Chhay Sreyleak, Mr. Hem Lina, Mr. Ty Sansouci and his girlfriend on January 15 at buffet restaurant. Mr. Hem Lina left Korea on January 16 and will come back on February 15. Mr. Ty Sansouci and his girlfriend will visit Cambodia from January 18 to February 18, 2009.
